Galetea Lipshitz
As an occupational therapist & entrepreneur, I have had the privilege of experience & exposure to a wide range of life skills training & leadership development.
I have developed a unique hybrid approach to addressing various aspects of sensory, socioemotional & cognitive skills development, in both individual and corporate settings.
My journey began with an undergraduate BA degree, majoring in Psychology and Law (WITS, 1989-1991), followed by BSc. Occupational Therapy (WITS, 1992-1995)
My early career was rooted in paediatric practice across public and private sectors, enriched by extensive courses in baby & child development, play therapy, sensory integration, and neuro-developmental techniques. My Honours dissertation focussed on the impact of child abuse & neglect on the development of body image, self-concept & esteem. This provided a foundational platform upon which I developed an interest in the development of adult self-awareness, self-care & confidence.
In 1997, I branched into the business sector, dedicating 27 years to wellness coaching, leadership development, and the advancement of metacognitive and life skills, in both individuals and teams.
During this period of time, I was involved in multiple community projects including:
My commitment to lifelong learning is evidenced by participation in ongoing educational leadership programs, featuring audio resources, and monthly/quarterly leadership seminars. This period of growth has been further augmented by personal coaching and mentorship from leading figures across various industries, including marketing, business, leadership, coaching, entrepreneurship, and medicine. This has enabled me to, in turn, coach hundreds of independent business owners globally.
I have been privileged to share my insights as a guest speaker at leadership seminars across major South African cities as well as international conferences in Namibia, Botswana & Canada. Audiences have ranged from 20 delegates to 2000+ attendees, reflecting my passion for connection and inspiration of people across culture, language & geography. The pandemic & digital interaction multiplied this dynamic exponentially.
As a wife and mother to three adult children, I have navigated the complexities of raising a family in a rapidly evolving world. This personal experience has enriched my professional practice, especially in adapting wellness & personal mastery strategies for individuals and corporations in response to the pandemic's challenges. I have found that certain age-old inherent principles related to vision, goal setting, planning, attitude & persistent dedication to worthwhile endeavours, remain the mainstay of individual mastery.
This coupled with the intentional development of mental tenacity, stress & energy regulation, the flexibility to adapt in a rapidly evolving world, and major advancement in neuroscience, provides a fertile growth environment for both young & seasoned minds.
My professional development continues with training as a Sensory Intelligence® Practitioner (2022). Developed by Dr Annemarie Lombard (PhD, Stellenbosch University), provides an evidence-based neuroscientific model for intervention on levels of sensory regulation, environmental adaptation & promotion of occupational proficiency (>12 years). This has massive application for individual/team productivity & adaptation, in a rapidly evolving global economy.
